Hong Kong Disneyland Park/ Family Travelogue 05 January 2008

Today is Disneyland day.  We woke up late, so exhausted the previous day.  The youngest was the last to go up.  This little girl was really energetic.  She kept on moving, seems restless.  We were checked in at one of the two Hong Kong Disney hotels, Disney Hollywood Hotel.  The room was good for four, spacious enough and clean.

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Shuttle bus

Disney hotels in Hong Kong provides guests free shuttle bus ride between the two disney hotels to the Disneyland Resort Public Transport Interchange.  Said interchange is a short walk to the Theme Park.

We did not take photo of the Entrance arch, we had a few the previous day.

Surfing Mickey fountain, Hong Kong Disneyland Park

One of the  landmarks of  Hong Kong Disneyland, the surfing mickey above the whale with other disney characters statues surrounding the fountain.  I say the the other landmarks are the entrance arch and the garden landscape shaped with Mickey's head.

We had purchased our park tickets at the hotel.  It was in the promotion then, 2 days ticket for a price of one.  Unfortunately, we were not able to use the free day as were already scheduled to visit the Ocean Park the next day.

The Disneyland Story was one of the past attractions that had closed or re themed.  Inside were pictures and chronicles that presented how Mickey Mouse came to Hong Kong.  This attraction was featured at Hong Kong Disneyland Park from its opening in 2005 and closed in 2008...  after our visit, lucky us.  It was re-themed as Art of Animation.

Hong Kong Disneyland was opened in 2005.  There were only four (4) themed areas during this visit:

1.  Main Street, U.S.A.
2.  Adventureland
3.  Fantasyland
4.  Tomorrowland

Main Street, U.S.A. themed area at Hong Kong Disneyland, like other Disney theme parks, serves as the gateway to the park.  Most of the buildings in the area are similar to those in Anaheim.

There are two souvenir shops at Main Street, U.S.A. themed area:  Center Street Boutique and Emporium

Autopia, Hong Kong Disneyland Park, Tomorrowland

Autopia version of Hong Kong Disneyland Park was opened in 2006,  It features electric cars with lightning effect and audio system.  This attraction closed in Mid 2016.  It is still unknown if it would only be for rehabilitation or permanent retirement.

Another popular attraction at Tomorrowland area is the HyperSpace Mountain.  This is actually our favourite.  The first fast ride the youngest had taken.  I got scared for her then, it was really fast.  The next time we took this ride in 2010, we did not feel anything anymore.

Snow White grotto, Hong Kong Disneyland Park, Fantasyland area
Snow White grotto is one of the attraction at the Fantasyland themed area at Hong Kong Disneyland Park.  There is also one at Tokyo Disneyland.  It is a wishing well with the statues of Snow White (not on photo), the seven dwarves and some creatures.

This little girl was pouting.  She did not get the phony she wanted, the other kid was first to hop on.

The Golden Mickeys show at Hong Kong Disneyland, Fantasyland

The Golden Mickeys show featured the movies:  Beauty and the Beast, Lilo and Stitch, Little Mermaid, Toy Story, Tarzan, Mulan and Hunchback of Notre Dame.  This show is replaced by Mickey and the Wondrous Book.

The themed areas were only four though, we missed the Adventureland.  We were able to explore Adventureland in 2010 visit.
