Getting Around Tokyo by Metro and Subway from Akihabara to Odaiba/Family Travelogue March 2016

There are many things to do in Odaiba.  You could find one day is not enough for what it could offer.  We only stayed in Odaiba for few hours, enjoyed a few of the popular attractions.

Odaiba is an artificial island in Tokyo Bay, Japan.  Among the attractions in this city are the extravagant buildings but indeed impressive:   Fuji TV Building, Telecom Center and the Tokyo Big Sight.  We did not visit the mentioned though, the city has many to offer.

It was the first day of our 5 days trip to Tokyo in March 2016, from 13Mar~18Mar.  We had arrived at 9:30am at Haneda International Airport.  We left our luggage at our hotel's luggage storage, check in was 3pm.  We went around Akihabara.  My daughter bought some anime stuff- her major purpose for this trip.  After our lunch at Tempura Tendon Tenya, Akihabara Br, we headed to the futuristic city, Odaiba.

As per hyperdia, at Akihabara station, we looked for the JR Keihin-Tohoku/Negishi line bound to Isogo.  Had we have difficulty finding the Metro/subway line,  we could have asked the officials station at the turnstiles.  As per below station timetable, we were to alight at Oimachi, 6 stops from Akihabara.

We then looked for the Rinkai line bound to Shin-Kiba.  Our destination was after three stops.

The Big Wheel in Odaiba is very much visible once out of the Tokyo Teloport Station.

Venus Fort shopping mall in Pallette town is in the style of the Old town in Europe.

Palette Town is large complex of shops and entertainment features: Venus Fort shopping mall, the Big Wheel and the Toyota Mega Web.

Largest Ferris Wheel in Japan located in Odaiba, Tokyo

One of the world's biggest ferris wheel situated inside the grounds of Palette town in Odaiba, offers spectacular views of Tokyo Bay and Odaiba. The six seater regular cabin and four seater all-glass cabin big wheel takes 15 minutes for the complete turn.

The Big Wheel has a diameter of 100 meters and 115 meters tall.  From the top, you can view the Rainbow bridge and the Tokyo tower.

At night, the ferris wheel is illuminated in 16 different patterns with 120 different kinds of lights.

We were in Odaiba City. We had to see ourselves the famous in this futuristic city.
And what are they:
We managed to see only a few... at least three:

stairs to Aqua City
We decided to go to the Aqua City to view the two landmarks of the city before it went dark. Aqua City is a shopping mall and with 13 screen cinema complex.  There is a Ramen Theme Park at the fifth floor with different ramen specialized from all over Japan.  In front of this mall, a great view of the Rainbow Bridge.

The Rainbow Bridge connects Odaiba to Tokyo.  It is a two story bridge designed as an expressway  road for the Yurikamome line.  Two walkways along each sides, apparently, for the pedestrians.  The bridge glares its beauty illuminated at night.
And Yes... you are right!  It is the Tokyo tower behind

Feels like New York, the replica of the famous Statue of Liberty.

What more we could ask for?  Rainbow bridge, the replica Statue of Libery and the Tokyo Tower

It was quite cold since we arrived Tokyo this morning. And it was colder in Odaiba.  My daughter right away said yes when I suggested we need to buy her a coat and a scarf as she was actually not fond of.  We got the warmer stuff at GAP inside the Aqua City.

Decks Tokyo Beach, Odaiba, Japan

Next to Aquacity Odaiba is the Decks Tokyo Beach.  It is also a shopping mall with indoor theme parks such as the Tokyo Joypolis, Legoland Discovery Center, Mdme Tussauds wax and the Trick Art Museum.

I don't know what is this, something about maintaining the city green, I guess :)

Tokyo Joypolis

We just passed the Decks while on our way to the DiverCity Tokyo Plaza.  Why?  Why DiverCity?  Check it out...

It is not just a life sized but a giant Gundam statue right in front of the DiverCity mall.  On the 7th floor resides the Gundam Front Tokyo, a museum and store themed more of anime series robots.

Some of the shops inside the mall are the Hello kitty, Colbees, Time Daiba... we bought something at Colbees, unable to take photos.

Dinner at Akihabara station before we headed to our hotel.

Our room at Hotel MyStays at Ochanamizu, Tokyo, Japan.  This hotel is eight minute walk to Akihabara town.  There was a convenience store, Family Mart, next to the lobby and my daughter was so glad, we purchased most of our dinner here as there were many choices of Bento, sushi, and breaded food.  We both do not fancy sashimi and noodles (unlike my hubby and the eldest). so I could only share fried foods for this trip.

The stuff my daughter got at Hello Kitty Shop in Odaiba.

continues to... Our snow fall experience at the foot of Mt Fuji the next day.
